This was Kyle's second trip to the US Kids World Championship, competing again in the Boys 6 & Under division.  This group would be playing at the Midland Country Club, a 9 hole course nestled in a residential community.  There wasn't an actual driving range on site, but Knollwood was down the street and most of the group went over there to practice their shots.  Our practice round showed a course that was pretty straight foreward, no water to drive over and the two par 5's were both doglegs.

Tee time for day 1 was around 11:00 in the morning.  Kyle ended up shooting a 39.  None of us were really satisfied with that.  Kyle knew that he could do better and after the rain showers that delayed the completion of round one for about 3 groups, Kyle went back to work on the driving range.

On day 2, while warming up on Knollwood, Kyle noticed a couple watching him.  After introductions were made, Kyle invited them to come and watch him play.  They were very polite and gratious and we were ecstatic to see them on the number 1 tee box when Kyle's round started.  The Anderson's proved to be lucky charms.  Kyle eagled both of the par 5's and shot a 32.  That score would catapult him from 13th place all the way to a tie for first!!

That evening, when we were back at Knollwood, I was happy to find Mr. Anderson and invited them to return for the 3rd round and he said that they'd be there.  Kyle's coach, Wesley was also on hand for day 3 and despite a rough start of two bogeys, Kyle eagled the par 5 third hole and was again tied with Brian.  Another eagle on the par 5, sixth hole put him in the lead and he never looked back.  He finished with a 34 and Kyle Cox became the 2006 Boys 6 & Under World Champion for US Kids Golf.

It was an incredible round and the Andersons were so excited that they asked for Kyle's autograph.  Kyle found himself also signing other player's flags.
